A Brown Bag Lunch Day is a simple and easy way to raise funds in your communities. All that you need to do is get people (students or employees) to "brown bag it" (bring a lunch from home) and donate to CAF the money that they would have spent on lunch. It's easy to set up: Go to the person who authorizes projects such as these (such as the principal of a school, a human resources manager or a business owner). Get permission from that person to hold a Brown Bag Lunch Day. Ask him/her to send out a memo to the students or employees that will explain what the event is and what CAF does. Make sure the memo makes clear what an individual needs to do to participate For example, is there a minimum amount ($5 for students, $10 for workers?) that must be donated? To whom do they make the donation? etc. Repeat the event as often as the school or company will allow - once a month, once a week, etc. And, of course, be sure to make your appreciation known to the participants and to the people who help you set up and run the Brown Bag Days. |

The Brown Bag Lunch is a workshop series where each workshop is conducted over several "lunch" sessions. (The name comes from the US custom of bringing lunch from home in a brown paper bag - so you can work while you eat). Unlike a traditional webinar, the Brown Bag series is designed to encourage interaction between attendees and facilitators. Participants meet on-line for the Brown Bag sessions (typically 6 - 90 minute sessions). To support interaction in the workshops, session attendance is limited and attendees are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions.Addressing the same content as a traditional multi-day workshop, the Brown Bag format provides participants with several advantages:Smaller commitment for individual blocks of time No travel costs Remote access (you can access from the office, the road, at home) |
